Permits, inspection and code
A detached building supplied from the house generally requires its own disconnecting means and a grounding electrode system at that building. Buried conductors have depth requirements that vary by wiring method and what runs above them, and the trench usually has to be inspected before backfill — covering it early is one of the more expensive mistakes on this kind of work.
Timing and scheduling in Vermont
Strongly seasonal. Frozen or saturated ground makes trenching slow or impossible, and reinstating a lawn in November is not the same job as in June. Anything involving excavation should be scheduled between the thaw and the first frost, and booked in spring for summer completion.
