Permits, inspection and code
New construction is built to the currently adopted code edition throughout, including arc-fault and ground-fault protection, receptacle spacing, and panel and service requirements. The rough inspection must pass before insulation and wall closure, and the final before occupancy — those inspections sit on the critical path of the whole build, not just the electrical trade.
Timing and scheduling in Vermont
Decide the electrical scope early. The service application has a utility lead time; the rough-in has to land between framing and insulation; and anything added after finishes are on costs several times what it would have during rough-in. Build in capacity for loads you are only considering — spare spaces and a conduit run are cheap now.
