Ask whether the quote includes the panel, breakers, service entrance conductors, meter equipment, exterior disconnects, grounding and bonding, labeling, permits, inspection, utility coordination, and disposal. Similar-sounding quotes can cover different work.
What actually moves this price
This page publishes no single figure on purpose. An installed Vermont price depends on the variables below, and a number quoted without them would hide the assumptions that decide it. Take these to any electrician and the quotes become comparable.

Property and access variables
Panel location, working clearance, finished walls, exterior condition, underground service, customer-owned poles, trenching, asbestos or lead considerations, multifamily layout, and correction of previous work can all affect labor and coordination.
New loads and future planning
A quote should reflect the equipment being added and credible future plans. Heat pumps, EV chargers, electric water heating, cooking, additions, hot tubs, batteries, and generators can change the load study and panel layout.
Utility and program variables
The electric utility may need to disconnect and reconnect service or review upstream capacity. Burlington Electric Department explains that some infrastructure charges may be identified only after the electrician submits the application. Efficiency Vermont's earlier Home Electric System Upgrade funding was fully allocated by the end of 2025, so it should not be treated as currently available.
