Permits, inspection and code

Fixed electric heating equipment requires circuits sized to its connected load, and manufacturers specify the maximum load per circuit and the required protection. Electric floor heating carries its own ground-fault requirements. Fixed heaters may not be supplied from general-purpose receptacle circuits, which is why a portable heater and a fixed heater are not electrically equivalent.

Timing and scheduling in Vermont

Plan before the heating season and before any tiling. In-floor systems must be installed during tiling, so the electrical and tiling schedules are interdependent. If a heat pump is under consideration, compare before committing — resistance heat is cheap to install and expensive to run.
