Permits, inspection and code

A panel requires clear working space in front of and around it that cannot be built over or obstructed, and enclosing a panel is a common and expensive basement finishing mistake. Unfinished basement areas carry ground-fault requirements, and where a space is partly finished, which requirements apply has to be determined rather than assumed.
